Background/ History...

Liguan Elementary School (LES) is located in the village of Dededo in the northern part of Guam.  According to the 2010 U.S. Census Bureau, about 45,000 people reside in Dededo, making it the most populated village on the island.  Liguan Terrace is a residential village and within a mile of the Micronesia Mall.

 

LES is one of six elementary schools servicing students in Dededo.  Ninety-eight percent of the students attending LES reside in the LiguanTerrace area.  According to Mayor Melissa Savares, the neighborhood serviced by LES consists of 1,748 homes and 5,735 residents.  

 

LES is an enclosed campus consisting of 32 classrooms, a cafeteria, a kitchen, a library, administrative offices, storage facilities, and a generator room.  LES is one of the schools on a 20 year lease-to-own contract with Guam Education Financing Foundation.

 

LES opened its doors on August 21, 2008 to students in Kindergarten through fifth grade.  The student population as of September 30, 2012 was 660.  It remained around 650 for the first few years.  In the last two years the student population has decreased.  To date the LES population is at 380.
